Girl Scout Yoga

We took the Daisy Girl Scout Troop to yoga today. The studio is ran by another Girl Scout Leader, Sunnie Edmonds, and she also happens to be a LTC in the Army. It was terrific! The music was fast and upbeat, she kept changing the poses and loved all the animal sounds for cat, cow and downward dog! AWESOME! If you haven't checked out her studio in downtown Leavenworth, then you should go for sure.

The troop really enjoyed themselves and all participated for almost the whole hour! Lillian was tired at the end and I had to take her out to lunch to refuel her body! :) But, Lillian loved the class and is still singing the songs as she is dancing around the house.

The girls earned their "Courageous and Strong" Petal today and I was proud of them. They listened and really learned from Sunnie. Thanks Sunnie for an awesome morning and Lillian wants to come back again. I would too!

ELMO Live!

Today we took the girls to see Sesame Street Live at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. As always, it was a great show! And it tells you something that Lydia finally sat still for the whole show. She got a little squirmy towards the end, but it was a miracle she lasted that long and I was so proud of her!

Lydia was so amazed by Elmo and all his friends. Elmo is her favorite and she would ask for him every time he left the stage. She was too cute! And Lillian has now seen Sesame Street Live three or four times. She is getting out of the age, but the joy of having a baby sister 4 years younger than her! She still enjoyed the show and asked if we could go back tomorrow.

Sesame Street always does such a great job and it was a fun morning! As for me, I am so tired and cold! Lillian and I delivered Girl Scout cookies for three hours in 24 degree weather! But, a lot of happy customers today!! Enjoy those cookies!

Love you all!

School Canceled!

It was our first canceled school day due to the snow. It is still coming down right now and we are expected to get 5-7 inches. We headed out by 8:30am for sledding and playing in the snow. The snow is really too wet and is too hard to compact for a snowman, so we will have to keep trying as it warms up a little today and tomorrow. It is 23 degrees right now, but not too bad when you are all bundled up like a snowman!

The girls enjoyed an hour of play before it was too cold and we had to come inside. We have been in Texas for too long and we haven't adjusted to this cold. But, we will head back outside in a little while once the girls have warmed up a little.

Rich is on his way to work now and he doesn't get to enjoy the snow day after all. At least we had one hour of play together and now his fun is over! Poor thing!

So, Happy Snow Day around the world! Love you all!

Girl Scouts Invade Great Wolf Lodge

That's right! The Girl Scouts took over Great Wolf Lodge yesterday evening. There were about a 1000 screaming girls ranging from Daisy (5-6) year old girls to Seniors. We all arrived in the chaos, but honestly, it really didn't take that long to check in and get off to your room.

Lillian and I stayed with Stephany and her two little girls plus another girl from our troop. We all hit the swim park right after arrival. Lillian has always enjoyed Great Wolf Lodge and this was her fourth visit to one. We have now gone to this one in Kansas City twice and the one in Grapevine, TX twice. The lazy river was freezing, but Lillian told me it would WARM up once I got in the water. But, do you think it did? NO! But, off I went in the water to make my daughter happy! :)

We went on the water slides and swam in the pool too. The pool water wasn't too bad, but it was crowded with lots of little girls. The water slides were awesome, but once we were dumped by the water bucket, then I was frozen to the bone!

I couldn't hear anything in the water park and I think I just kept saying, huh? over and over again. Lillian couldn't hear anything either because this was her first time wearing ear plus and wrap since her surgery two weeks ago. And I was a bad mom and completely left the ear plugs in the suitcase before Lillian reminded me she needed them. It only took 30 minutes of her being in the water for us to remember! YIKES! Sorry Ear Doctor! :)

We went to story time at 8:00pm. Lillian has always enjoyed the Clock Tower story time and we manage to see it every time. She has the songs memorized by now!:) Then, the dance party began! Wow! Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and more! All the girls were screaming, jumping up and down, dancing and enjoying every minute! Lillian was lost in the crowd at one point and I just kept video taping and knew she would pop her head up in a minute. She was dancing with Violet the Wolf!

We had several girls enter the Hula Hoop contest and I must say I am impressed with the skills these girls have. They had to jump up, jump back and hop on one foot while hula hooping away. Go girls! We made it back to our room for the Pizza Party by 10:00am and had some pizza, chips and drinks. Our troop also needed to work on the Cookie Booth signs for next weekend, so we managed to make three and stay awake.

By this point, the girls were wiped out and we hit the bed by 11:00pm. I am not sure when they were asleep, but it was a short night of sleep. Lillian and I did the quest game this morning, made a t-shirt, played in the arcade and made two stuffed poodles for her and Lydia. Then, we managed to meet Rich and Lydia for lunch. Really? All this before lunch time? Should be a crime!

Now, Lillian is out! She managed to make it to her room and it took 30 seconds for her to fall asleep. My poor baby just can't hang with these late nights!!! What a great time Girl Scouts and see you all next year!!

Snow Creek Weston

If you haven't gone you need to go! This was our last outing today with the King Family. All Veronica wanted to do was see the snow and tube and it was a great morning on the slopes. This place is a little gem in Fort Leavenworth, KS and only about 25 minutes from post. It is beautiful! You can ski, ride the slopes, snow board, take kiddie ski lessons and tube. Tube is what we did on this crisp morning around 25 degrees!

All the girls loved it and Veronica said it was the best part of vacation! The slopes were fun and pretty fast. It was awesome sliding on your belly, trying different slopes and even holding onto each others tubes to go even faster! Lydia was the first to head inside, but she gave it her all. She was exhausted from partying for New Year's Eve and waking up at 6:40AM!!! That girl!

But, all of us had such a great experience and we will go back for sure. Veronica wanted to take a break and then come back in the afternoon. It was heartbreaking telling her she had to leave this afternoon! I am so happy they all loved it! And the funny part...listening to Nina scream all the way down the hill! She was the last one to come down and was negotiating with the tube boys all morning long...don't spin, don't let them catch up with me, etc. She is so chicken! Even Alyssa said to Nina as Nina was screaming down the hill holding onto Alyssa, "Mom, there is no need to scream. It is going to be alright you know?" Go Alyssa!

After one fun morning, then it was time for the hard part. And hard it was! Saying good bye! I knew it was going to be hard and Nina and I kept letting the girls play while Lydia was taking a much needed nap. But, in the end, we knew we had to go get them ready to leave. It broke my heart! Veronica and Lillian were crying and kept crying which only started Nina and I crying too. We were trying to be strong for the girls, but our hearts were sad too. So, four of us crying and the boys looking at us like we were nuts. We are already planning our next get together! The girls continued to cry even until Veronica was in the car waving good bye and blowing kisses. It was so sweet when they were hugging and told each other they loved one another. They never realized how much they missed one another until it was time to part. And Alyssa being Alyssa, "We will come back when it isn't cold!" HA HA

It was such a wonderful vacation and I am so glad they came to visit. We miss them so much! Lillian is still upset and Lydia woke up from her nap and said, "Alyssa?" I said she had to leave for home. Good friends, great times and great memories!!! Happy New Year!!! Love you King Family and please drive safe!!! You are all the best!!! We love and miss you more than you know!

PS- Snow suits are not so flattering....UGH!

Happy New Year 2011!

Can it really be 2011? Can it really be time to say hello to a new year and good bye to my dear friends? It is!

We decided to hang around the house yesterday morning due to weather. We had some freezing rain and ice and didn't want to take the girls out in all that mess. So, we stayed in and they played all day long! Lydia took a really good nap and much needed because she is trying so hard to keep up with the big girls. She just doesn't realize she is only 2 years old at times! She really has enjoyed all the interaction with them and I know she will miss all the attention she gets from the girls.

Although, Lydia continues to be a brut and tries to take the girls out! At least no one lost a tooth like the last time the Martins and Kings were together! HA! All the girls were tired from movie night, but we managed to make it out the door for our New Year Celebration.

We went to T-Rex Cafe for their New Year's Eve Kid Bash and it was awesome! It was like an adult New Year party made into the kiddie version complete with hats, balloon drop and sparkling cider toast. And don't forget the make your own sundae which is always a big hit! The girls love this place and I was so happy to take Veronica and Alyssa there too while they were in Kansas. Of course, they loved it and said they wanted to come again for dinner!

It really was a fun night and the perfect way to ring in the New Year! Once we got home and got the kiddos to bed, then the adults played a board game. All I can say is: Topic: Battle of the Bulge Julie: Does this have to do with fat? What a fun night!

Now? Off to ring in the New Year with tubing and one last adventure with the King Family!!!!! AWESOME TIMES!!

Happy New Year and love you all!! May it hold many blessings for all of us!!!
