Meet The Teacher!

This afternoon we had Meet the Teacher for Lydia. Yes, my Lydia is starting a 2 1/2 year old program at St. Paul Lutheran School. She will be in Mrs. Staples class on Wednesday and Fridays from 8:10am to 11:10am. She starts school this Wednesday.

I don't know how it happened, but my little Lydia wanted to start school this year. We originally checked out this program a few weeks ago and toured the school. But, I decided I wasn't ready to send her to school and wanted to keep her all to myself. But, Lydia had a different idea. She was crying the day we took Lillian to school and kept telling me, "I want to go to school!" So, I got her in to school just last Friday. It was a sign from above!

Now, here we are. Lydia says she is ready to go although I don't know what that truly means to her. Mommy is sad to let her go, but knows it is the best place for her to be this year. She plays with all of Lililan's friends and now she needs friends her own age. She needs it for behavior- socially and emotionally. I know she needs to learn to share with kiddos her own age and not just get used to the older kiddos giving in to her. She is darn cute! :)

That was the rational part of my brain talking, now tell that to my heart. I will miss her sweet face and I am used to having her all to myself. Now, I have to share her just like I had to do with her older sister. Why does it seem like it is happening to fast? She is my sunshine and now I have to trust someone else to not harm her and to put her first. I hope they hold her close and cherish her as much as I do!

Mommy loves you Lydia! Good luck on your first day of school and I hope it is a day you will always remember! You are so bright, sassy and full of life. I hope you shine to your fullest potentional now and always.

Love,

Mommy

The Hand Holders:
A Tribute To Caregivers

There is no job more important than yours,
no job anywhere else in the land.
You are the keepers of the future;
you hold the smallest of hands.

Into your care you are trusted
to nurture and care for the young,
and for all of your everyday heroics,
your talents and skills go unsung.

You wipe tears from the eyes of the injured.
You rock babies brand new in your arms.
You encourage the shy and unsure child.
You make sure they are safe from all harm.

You foster the bonds of friendships,
letting no child go away mad.
You respect and you honour their emotions.
You give hugs to each child when they're sad.

You have more impact than does a professor,
a child's mind is moulded by four;
so whatever you lay on the table
is whatever the child will explore.

Give each child the tools for adventure,
let them be artists and writers and more;
let them fly on the wind and dance on the stars
and build castles of sand on the shore.

It is true that you don't make much money
and you don't get a whole lot of praise,
but when one small child says "I love you",
you're reminded of how this job pays.
